I've been living in this XXXL ladies plaid shorts for the past two weeks. They seem to go with everything, plus every time I wear them they are mistaken for a kilt at least once. Obviously I love that. These bad boys are the newest addition to my sunglasses collection. I figured I wanted to go with a biiiit of a different shape than I'm used to and I quite like them! Plus they were mega discounted (something like 70% off with free shipping) so you can't really beat that, now can you?
Hope everyone is enjoying spring! Our weather has been crap here but I'm sure it'll turn around soon. I'm ready for short-shorts! (only half kidding...)

What was meant to be a productive day took a vicious turn for the worst when I opened my blind this morning. Nothing calls for a stay-in-bed-and-only-watch-episodes-of-Girls kind of day like a pure gray sky. Once I eventually peeled my lazy ass out of bed (4 hours after waking up, I should add) I decided it was the perfect opportunity to wear this rain coat I thifted a few months back. Part raver, part garbage bag, part, dare I say it, practical. Worn with what I think is my new favorite button up and this incredible triple ring necklace. The necklace is truly one of those thrift finds you really wonder "Who owned this before and why the hell did they get rid of it?!"

Alas, finally some nice weather. I think this will mean good things for blogging. I can actually put the extra effort into my outfits, and I'm not freezing my ass off trying to take outfit shots. Lets hope it lasts... (We've been burned before. Winnipeg is the worst)
A bit about this outfit... this mesh shirt has proved itself to be the best laying piece ever. I've worn it a million different ways, but this is the first time trying it over a graphic t-shirt. I wanted a pair of super baggy leather shorts so I bought these ladies leather pants and chopped them off. Easy as that.
Also, does anyone else ever feel a weird sense of accomplishment when you step outside and realize that nearly every piece you're wearing is thrifted? I love that this outfit (excluding the sunglasses) cost under $25 bucks. It's all about the small joys in life. ;)

This outfit definitely made the most waves out of anything I wore. I was interviewed for the Toronto Star, named one of Flare Magazine's Best Dressed at Toronto Fashion Week, and even recieved a tweet from Joe Fresh. Not bad for a $50 coat. I've been itching to get myself a pair of New Balances but when I saw these Nikes I figured they would do juuuust fine. Love the neon sole.

This one is a classic Andrew outfit. This dollar store hat has hardly left my head since I bought it. It's obviously intended for a child but that won't stop me from wearing it. The weather wasn't the best for a few of the days so layering was sort of the best option out there. Beautiful sunny days quickly turned into cool nights so you really had to dress appropriately. Can't wait until I can go barelegged in my kilt again. Sooooon, I can feel it!

Clearly I am digging neoprene lately, can you tell? I had to bite my tongue so many times when asked who this jacket was by. I kid you not, I got Balanciaga, Prada, Jil Sander, Raf Simons, and any other label you could imagine. I suppose there shouldn't be any shame in owning a reasonably priced piece, but just once I wanted to answer "Yes it's Jil Sander. Thanks for noticing!" Next time.

This was probably the outfit I was most excited to wear, except it only came together roughly an hour before I wore it. The idea of wearing all white on top and black shoes with these pants was always in my mind, but finding a white top that didn't look cheap proved to be tricky. I ended up going with this alllmost Canadian Tuxedo look. Pretty happy with how it turned out.
Good news, everyone! I'm going to World Mastercard Toronto fashion week with my lovely friends from MTV Fora! Normally a trip means a hiatus from my blog, but I fully intend on keeping up with everything/the internet for once. Boy London Shirt & Hat
I've been obsessed with the Boy London label for quite some time now. What was once a (nearly) impossible label to buy, Boy is finally making its way to the forefront once again. My first Boy shirt was purchased for me by my dear friend Kylie in London at the hysteric Sick store. Since then I've been scouring eBay for the best vintage or new Boy London pieces but was coming up with little luck. Once in a while there would be a treasure that would sell juuuuust out of my price range. Finally pieces are starting to show up all over the place, especially now with the official "Leave The Boy Alone" web store. Some people hate when their favorite labels start to show up more and more, I say spread the joy. Long live Boy London!

Always love Daniel's collections. He uses the perfect mixture of craziness with practicality which is something I appreciate. Each season has a strong sportswear inspiration which is what I thrive for these days. Show me a stylist sweat pant and lets call it a day. There's also nothing wrong with a sweater that says it all. Sometimes the most unexpected pieces become staples in your wardrobe. An electric yellow leather detachable collar seems like something that wouldn't integrate into your closet, but it just works perfectly. Same goes for the faceless watch. I've blogged about it on here years ago and it always manages to make its way back onto my wrist. As for the bag? If you follow me on Twitter you may have heard me mentioning DIYing a bag which ended up stinking. Oooooooh, the troubles of secondhand fabric. Well, this is the infamous stinky bag. I DIYed a much larger version a few months ago but I figured it might be nice in a smaller size. Guess I'll have to Fabreze it to death and hope that helps.
The music is simple. A nice, feel-good song for the spring. It's been on my iPod for months but it finally seems appropriate to listen to. Makes me get excited for drinks on patios and poolside cocktails. Or just drinking in a back ally on a summer evening. Basically I'm just ready for warm weather & the inevitable drinking it will bring.

In all seriousness, how incredible is the Marni x H&M collection?! I think it's the first H&M collaboration I have seen in years where real attention is paid to the menswear line. Any of the pieces could easily be in the mainline, with the same attention to detail and quality. I'm especially in love with the swim shorts + button down combo (get a better look over at The Dandy Project). Here's hoping my lucky stars align and I somehow get my hands on them. Time for H&M to open in Winnipeg!

Here in Winnipeg we've been blessed with a pretty mild winter. This week is no exception. What would normally be a freeze-your-ass-off February, I've been leaving the house in spring coats all weekend. It's hard not to look like a giant balloon in this Cheap Monday windbreaker (a look I don't hate, I should mention) but I quite like it paired with this army vest. I purchased the vest last week and it's already proven itself to be very useful in my wardrobe. Sometimes the strangest pieces end up being the most useful. Gotta love that.

This is my new favorite fragrance. I'm lucky enough to work in a boutique that sells the Diptyque line, which I was only familiar with from seeing the candles on the Polyvore wishlist of pretty well every blogger, ever. The line really lives up to the hype, though. I own one candle which is beautiful, but man, the fragrances are amazing. Their line is all pretty unisex, but there is something that is particularly captivating about the Eau Duelle. So, in case you ever wondered what I smell like... this is it.

As many of you may know, I am undoubtedly a hoarder of sunglasses. I have no shame in it. Though most of the time I pride myself in a good thrift store find, it is always nice to get yourself a pair of amazing quality, well made frames. Though I do have a wide selection of shades, I find myself always going to the classic pair of Rayban wayfarers. That's why when I was choosing my next pair of designer frames I knew I wanted something with a classic feel - but this time with a bit of an edge. I'm so glad I chose these Jil Sander sunglasses in blue. The shape is classic enough but it all comes down to the detailing, which is what I love so much about the Jil Sander brand. Classic pieces but there is always some twist to it. The "Jil Sander" logo is small, modest, and only on one side. There's something to say about labels that are more about the integrity of the pieces over the flashiness of their brand name. Gotta love it. Now I'm somewhat guilty on splurging on crrrrazy, unwearable designer pieces, which ultimately end up - you guessed it - never getting worn. But, I feel like I am finally learning the concept of investment pieces. Finding beautiful quality items (like these shades here) which you know will integrate perfectly into your current wardrobe. The whole idea of luxury goods should be that you get to enjoy them - not just have them sit around collecting dust.

With the spring season (dare I say it!!) quickly approaching, it's time to start thinking about what items you would like to add to your wardrobe before the weather starts changing. Take a look at Sunglasses Shop and perhaps start to think quality over quantity, which is a lesson I am slowly teaching myself. It's fun to have nice things, just make sure that you'll actually wear them!
Tis the season where the menswear fashion weeks wrap up, and every single blogger gives you their two cents about what we all just saw. Why does my opinion count over any one elses? Well I haven't decided that yet... but here's what I think. Now listen.
The Jil Sander show gave us some serious leather, and I mean serious seriously. Who doesn't love a patent leather long sleeve? This show single-handedly shot "all leather everything" to the top of my list of looks I want to create/DIY. Lord knows everyone and their grandmother is going to DIY the leather lunchbag from this show but it won't be me. I'll leave that one for someone else to butcher.
A DIY I might try is this metallic sweatshirt from the Neil Barrett show. Simple enough, but a great laying piece. Into it.
I know, I know. Nicola is ruining the Mugler name, blah blah blah. A step back from some of the ridiculous pieces in the show and I can honestly say I really like some of the silhouettes. Whatever. I don't have to justify myself to you, leave me alone!!
I've been super into kilts/skirts lately, and I was just waiiiiting for the Comme Des Garcons show, because I knew I could rely on the line for some skirts. Just knew it. Not feeling the Kristen Stewert hair, but I'll let that one pass.
When looking at a show like Walter Van Beirendonck, you really need to take the show at face value. It will usually be ridiculous, it will usually be unwearable, but you need to find the pieces that can/would work. The monochromatic looks were the strong point of the show, and the multicolored layering was pretty genius. I'm a fan.
I'm not going to pretend that the Raf Simons show was their best because, I mean... it wasn't. But daaaamn, I always love it. I can always point out about half of the line that I would kill to wear. The stand outs for me were the mesh-like sweaters layered over a white shirt & black tie. Simple but awesome.

Okay, obviously I know there isn't anyone over at the Ann team reading my little ol' blog, but damn this is a coincidence. Those of you ~long time readers~ may remember my DIY from April 2010 where I made these exact jeans. Haven't worn them much lately but maybe it's time to whip them out again!

How did I nearly forget Juun.J?!!! Arguably my favorite line evvvver, I always look forward to this show. I think shoulders are the biggest trend to follow this season and Juun.J delivered simply the best in exaggerated. Love it.

I've had a super crazy holiday season with all the visits from out of town friends and family events. What ever happened to the good old days of being in elementary school with no job and no commitment? When you could actually enjoy the break. I don't want to complain though because the past little while has been crazy - but also crazy good!
I've done some major online shopping and this hat is probably the most amazing thing I've found. Images of it have been floating around all over the internet (mainly tumblr) and I knew I had to somehow get my hands on it. Every lead I seemed to find to this sold out hat ended in a dead end until I happened upon the original online shop page for it. In big red letters it read "SOLD OUT" but, for whatever reason, the order form was still usable. I tried my luck, sent in an order, waited a week and a half, then got a conformation that it was sent out. How lucky am I?!! What the hell!!!!!!
So, the moral of the story is - online shopping rules and continues to be the best invention ever.
