I was so sick of not having a functional storage space for my sunglasses, so I decided to just make my own. Keeping true to the theme of my room I knew I wanted something with a vintage feel. Not exactly sure how this idea came to me but it was a total "A-ha!" moment! If anyone else out there has a strange, sick addiction to sunglasses, this is an awesome way to keep them organized!

What you'll need:
Scissors, Thick elastic band (found at any sewing store), Staple gun, Vintage looking frame of your choice, Tape Measure, Pencil or marker, and lots and lots of sunglasses

Start by removing the staples holding the original artwork in place. Obviously, this step can be skipped if you have an empty frame.

Decide where you want your first row. I chose to do mine quite close to the top. Staple down on one side using as many staples as you need to make it feel secure. I used from 2-3 on each one. Pull the elastic tight across to the other side. You want to do quite tight, but not tight enough that you will be losing the shape of the elastic.

Once your first row is complete, measure down to decide where your next row will be. I decided on 8 inches. Measure down on both sides, and repeat the previous steps to secure another row. Continue down until you reach near the end of your frame.

Find the right wall and make sure it's level. And vola, there you have it. The last step is the most fun: Add your sunglasses!!

I have quite the sunglass collection myself, and this is most awesomely brilliant idea! Now I will be on the lookout for a neat frame and give it a try :)
Framed frames.
This is absolutely fantastic! Not nearly this number of sunglasses are in my possession, but I can definitely envision making this on a smaller scale. If I acquire more, I can use another frame perhaps, which I think will look cool. Thanks.
WOOOOW !! amazing !! your sunglasses collection's is really rewarding ! wooow !! I really like looking at all these magnificent glasses, which each more beautiful one than the others !

This...is awesome. Great job! loving it. xo
Thinking that with a modification for hooks, this would be a good way to deal with all the long/complex beaded necklaces that have taken over the entire surface of my dresser. I have 2 countertop cabinets for jewelry, but they were never designed with modern statement necklaces in mind.
great idea! you rock!
Question for anyone: I was just wondering if there was a reason that they used elastic? I was thinking of using ribbon to make one.. but don't want to do it if there's a specific reason to use elastic?
Thanks for anyone's advice!
Erin,
The reason I chose elastic was because I thought it would be more durable. With contantly taking glasses out and putting them back in, I thought the ease allowed by elastic would be helpful. I made this over 8 months ago and it's still in really great shape.
I'm sure ribbon would work, especially if you were doing this on a smaller scale. I'd say go for it! If it doesn't work it would be easy to fix later
If you try it let me know how it goes! Good luck!
This is brilliant! Can't wait to make one
The more modern reflective coatings on Mirror Sunglasses usually have several layers making them more durable and less likely to become scratched. While these sunglasses may be more expensive, you often get what you pay for when purchasing sunglasses.

Awesome idea!
Wanted to ask your opinion...I am thinking of making something similar, was originally looking at a tutorial that used chicken wire, but I'm wondering if the wire might be too "harsh" on the sunglasses, if that makes any sense?
I think the elastic may be better if that is the case. The chicken wire just looks so awesome, but I wouldn't want to risk chipping sunglasses just for something that looks cool.
